It’s a new name and new menu for HK, Cowes (Formally Harbour Kitchen)
The well-known Harbour Kitchen in Cowes High Street has recently undergone a menu re-vamp along with a re-branding to become simply HK.
Owner-chef Brian Hicks explains: “We wanted to branch out and offer our customers something more than just great home-made burgers, so I’ve now introduced 8oz steaks sourced from the Island, baby back ribs, and a fresh home-made crab cake. I’ve also expanded the choice of nachos, adding chilli, cheese and other great toppings.”
In addition to the main dishes Brian also introduced a few extra starters – and he hasn’t overlooked those customers with allergies or special diets either, as there are various gluten-free dishes on the menu, along with great vegeterian and vegan options.
Also new on the menu are sharer dishes that will satisfy two, three or four people. “These dishes will include a variety of choices” says Brian, “and one thing’s for sure – you won’t go away hungry, as they’re really generous portions but still of the quality my customers come to expect.”
Brian is committed to buying local produce wherever possible: “In most cases I can source local produce, all my burgers are made from local beef, as well as our steaks. While there are always some ingredients I can’t source locally, I do my best to ensure that we use as much local as we can”
If you fancy breakfast at HK you’ll find a great honest-to-goodness breakfast menu, including amazing bacon rolls made with streaky bacon, or, for a healthier option, there’s avocado, mushroom and tomato ciabatta.
Meanwhile, with Christmas approaching fast and office managers and organisers are looking for venues for their staff and social parties, Brian has developed a special festive menu with prices starting at £13.95 per head. They also have private dining rooms for hire.
“I can be very flexible when it comes to Christmas menus” he says. “Customers can either order off the main menu or opt for one of our fixed priced menus – the options are there to suit all requirements.”
You can check out the new menu at HK from Tuesday to Thursday between11am and 10pm, or Friday to Sunday from 10am to close. Mondays are closed for the staff to take a well-earned breather!
